Maybe if "Apache"'s lyrics didn't sound like something Captain Caveman would say. My favorite lyric: "I'm the one who shot Jesse James". I'm pretty sure Robert Ford was white.

Poor Felipe Rose. He doesn't know how to honor his heritage without dancing in a loincloth for white men. (And yes, I am aware that gay/lesbian art tends to have more sexual themes, but still...This is no "Men, use a condom or beat it".) But, upon seeing Mapplethorpe's Man in Polyester Suit, I know it's an objectification of black men. I could deconstruct it as anti-art, commenting that white men only see black men as supposedly huge genitalia, but...I'd just be fooling myself.
Of course, I can't talk about the 70s without mentioning Hanta Yo, the ultimate non-native "native-inspired" art. Inspired more by Ayn Rand than anybody, it simply takes Randroid values and puts them in a Sioux setting, and attaches a mix of Sioux ceremonies and things Hill just made up. And lots and lots of sex. (Seventies, remember?)
